Yes, I got a fisheye

Samyang 8mm F3.5 is a really good, affordable fisheye lens for those who want to play a bit, see the world at a different perspective and not spend too much money at the same time. I’m not going to write a long review (you can find some online). Just some few subjective things what I do and don’t like.

First of all just click here to see detailed specification on dpreview.com

The good
  • Great overall price to quality comparison. It costs just aprox. 230 euro (purchased in Poland) when Nikkor AF 10.5mm f/2.8 is around 700.
  • Really nice contrast and colors
  • Sharp at f/5.6 – f/16
  • Great built quality
  • Small in size and not too heavy (435g)
  • Small vignette

The bad
  • There’s no f/4.0, just f/3.5 and f/5.6
  • It’s not possible to attach any filters
  • Not too sharp at f/3.5 but really good at f/5.6 – f/16
  • No autofocus (not such a big problem in fisheye type lenses but would be nice to have it)

Photo Friday - Curvature

I just discovered a Photo Friday website and going to take part from time to time :)

About Photo Friday

Each week Photo Friday posts a photo assignment. Your mission is the creative interpretation of the week's theme. When you're done, post the picture you took to your website and submit your link to Photo Friday.

Photo Friday is about challenging our participants to be original and creative within the constraints of the week's theme. It's not a competition. Anyone with a camera and a place on the internet to post pictures can participate.

Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus

Few days ago I watched a photography related movie "Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus" and I have to say I really enjoyed that so I highly recommend it to everyone.

Trailer below

If you're interested, read a bit more about Diane Arbus

Also some changes on my blog. I decided to remove links section... I don't update it at all and nobody visits it anyway. I'm going to keep links on the right hand side though so if you want to make a trade just let me know.

As you can see I also added a new section called "Movies about photography". It's going to be a nice (and long I hope) list of movies related to photography. I'm going to add movies one by one and only the ones I've seen myself.
For now there's a great document "The Genius of Photography", "Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus" mentioned above and Blow-up which I saw couple of years ago. More to come :)
